IMMANUEL LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL (3-4yrs.)

Mission Statement

To nurture and inspire the young child’s development through the knowledge of Jesus Christ, by providing an environment in which children feel loved and valued. “Let the little children come to me.” Matthew 19:14.

Philosophy

Each child is unique and a special gift from God. It is essential that children be in an atmosphere in which they can grow and develop emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Children meet their fullest potential in these areas in an environment that is safe, promotes creativity, supports problem solving and invites a sharing of ideas. We want to share with each the child the knowledge that God is faithful and Jesus loves them. Our main goal is for each child to have a positive experience with school. We want the child to have fun and to foster a love of learning.

Curriculum

Immanuel Little Lambs Preschool is a setting where young children are free to discover and explore God’s world in a “Christ-centered” environment. Activities are designed to be “hands on” and recognize each child’s uniqueness and individuality. These activities are aimed to build a positive self-concept as well as meeting the child’s spiritual, social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs. Creative experiences invite children to experiment, explore and to be successful. Immanuel Lutheran Preschool builds confidence in discovering and learning new things in God’s creation by sharing the love of Jesus with young lives. Each day children will have opportunities to learn based on their developmental level. Children will experience:

FREE PLAY LEARNING CENTERS—Children choose from a variety of activities such as creative art, manipulatives, sensory development, discovery/nature, puzzles, blocks, dramatic play, cooking activities, arts and crafts.

GROUP TIME—Children will have teacher-directed activities such as Jesus Time, story time, calendar/weather activities, fingerplays, premath and prereading activities, music and movement activities, etc.

GROSS MOTOR—Children will have opportunities to develop the larger muscles through outdoor or gym play.

MANIPULATIVE FREE PLAY—This includes coloring, games, and small manipulatives that children can play by themselves or in small groups. This will encourage fine motor skills.

SOCIALIZATION—Social skills are important to learning. Social situations provide many opportunities for children to develop self-awareness, self-control and personal responsibility. These social situations also provide opportunities for children to learn about Jesus and how to live as a Christian.

REST TIME—Provides children an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Following a daily routine helps children feel secure and independent. Our schedule allows a child to move from one activity to another easily and confidently. We have a schedule that is well-balanced and includes active and quiet activities, large and small group activities, and individual/teacher/child directed activities.
